The 1932 Karachi - Madras Flight

The Story

The 1932 Karachi - Madras flight is possibly the most famous flight in the Indian aviation history. The Karachi - Bombay leg was piloted by the legendary J.R.D. Tata and the Bombay - Madras leg of the journey was piloted by Nevill Vintcent. (See Mr. Nevill Vintcent's autograph on a postal cover that travelled all the way to Cape Town. Madras to Cape Town at 9700 miles was the longest route of this era)

Numerous newspaper and magazine articles as well as books detail this historic flight. See this fanboys' tribute to legendary Mr. J.R.D. Tata in the Thematic Section.

The life and times of Mr.  Nevill Vintcent has been chronicled in Wikipedia, a link to the same is appended.
